UPF-USA Celebrates the International Day of Peace
October 3, 2007
The International Day of Peace was established by the United Nations as an annual day for peace and ceasefire throughout the world. It is celebrated each year on September 21.
This year, UPF USA volunteers and Ambassadors for Peace took initiative across America in support of the International Day of Peace, organizing a wide range of activities including rallies, marches, prayer vigils, community forums and neighborhood celebrations. Through all these activities, UPF's Ambassadors for Peace added their unique message to the International Day of Peace - that true and lasting peace will come when we all realize that we are "one global family under God."
Though organized on relatively short notice, UPF USA volunteers put together an impressive list of some 128 events in 41 states. More than 15,000 people participated in or were directly involved with these events. Ambassadors for Peace secured proclamations from 32 governors, mayors and other elected officials.
