Remarks On The Assembly 2007
H.E Chief (Dr) Ernest Shonekan GCFR, CBE, Former President, Federal Republic of Nigeria|
New York, United States
October 23, 2007
I write to thank the Leadership of the Universal Peace Federation for inviting me to the UPF Assembly 2007.
I have enjoyed every moment of my stay right from the time I arrived from the airport.
I felt welcome by everybody as a full member of one Great Family under God. The arrangement made for accommodation and reception were more than adequate and was very impressed by the professionalism shown by all concern.
The topics that were chosen for discussion were very relevant to the challenges we face in the world today. The speakers were excellent particularly our Chairman Rev Dr. C.W Kwak who set the tone of the Conference.
The High Water Mark of the conference was the convocation and the speech by the founder Rev. Moon. It was not only visionary in content but inspirational as well and it is a challenge to some of us who had the privilege of sharing the vision of Abel UN.
The pride of place given to Africa to highlight the challenges facing the continent was also remarkable and welcome. I am also grateful for the honor of making me as a member of the Global Peace Council of the UPF.
In the light of my experience in this assembly I have resolved to continue to work relentlessly hard in my commitment to the promotion of Peace, prosperity and conflict resolution within the global environment.
I wish the leadership of UPF all the very best in their collective endeavor of making the planet of ours a better place than we met it.
