Dr. Eugene P. Wigner [1902-95], Nobel Laureate, Physics
These meetings have given me not
only pleasure and stimulation; they also brought me back to fundamental
problems which one is inclined to forget if one strives for the solution of a
special problem of one’s prime interest. The realization of the magnitude of
the fundamental problems of science and of mankind may not help toward a job,
yet it does help toward mental equilibrium and a more sound appraisal of the
value of one’s life and one’s obligations.
