Cotonou, Benin - Professor Noel Dossou Yovo, the first person appointed an Ambassador for Peace in Benin, passed away on May 5. He was an emeritus university professor, President of the Professors World Peace Academy of Benin, and a member of the Presiding Council and the Board of UPF-Benin.

Ambassador for Peace Elected President of Kosovo

Pristina, Kosovo - Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga was elected President of Kosovo on April 7. The only female general in Kosovo and the Balkans, she rose through police ranks and became General Director of the State Police. She was appointed an Ambassador for Peace in 2008.

German Ambassador for Peace Exhibits Arabic Calligraphy

Berlin, Germany - “Calligraphy is another language for peace,” explained Dr. Qais Saidi while presenting his works of art during the recent conference of the UPF National Peace Council of Germany in Berlin. Most of the 15 works of calligraphy are based on the Arabic word for peace: “salam.”
Aid from Malta to People Stranded in Libya

Valletta, Malta - UPF Ambassador for Peace Mrs. Sanaa El-Nahhal, president of the Arabic Culture Information Society in Malta, is collecting supplies for people stranded by the upheavals in Libya. A bishop of the Catholic Church has proposed that donations at Ash Wednesday services be used to offer humanitarian aid to people on Libya's borders.
