Ambassadors for Peace

World Summit 2019 Report Inspires Ambassadors for Peace

Croatia-2019-03-16-World Summit Testimony Inspires Ambassadors for Peace

Zagreb, Croatia—A member of parliament gave a moving testimony about his experience at the UPF World Summit in Korea.

Mr. Branimir Bunjac, a member of parliament from the Živi zid (“Human Shield”) party, had been very inspired by the speech of UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon at the 2019 World Summit, which took place in February.

The goals of the Ambassadors for Peace meeting, which was held at the Zagreb Peace Embassy on March 16, 2019, were to give an update on UPF activities to Ambassadors for Peace, UPF supporters, and guests, and also to appoint new Ambassadors for Peace.

The Peace Embassy was completely filled, with 36 persons attending the meeting.

The distinguished guests included the president of the International Women’s Club in Zagreb, who happens to be a princess of Nigeria; a PhD professor; and some members of parliament. The president and members of a local Esperanto language association were also among the guests.

Mr. Bunjac came to the meeting with two sons and gave a very uplifting 10-minute testimony. His speech was very clear, focused, and humorous, and had a good message. It was his honest observation, delivered with intellect and spiritual maturity.

Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Bunjac and his two sons stayed for dinner.

Two new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed during the meeting: Mr. Stipe Renic, a war veteran, artist and humanitarian; and Ms. Akuoma Helen Boromisa, a Nigerian princess and the president of the International Women’s Club Zagreb.

Excerpts from Mr. Bunjac’s testimony

“One day, when I went to a painting exhibition, I found paintings that I liked so much, I asked for information and found out that it’s from a Korean painter who lives in Zagreb [Ji Suk “Jessy” Baek]. I contacted her if she could teach my son, and my son started painting lessons at her atelier. Soon after that, I received an invitation from Jessy, the painter, if I would like to participate in the World Summit.

“I am not interested to go on free trips and events, but the words ‘World Peace’ triggered me. …

“The first day I was at the summit, I had never seen so many races and nationalities and different religions in my life. So I already started to like it. I thought this was going to be a good experience.

“And then Mrs. Moon appeared. … I had never heard this kind of speech in my life. It kept my attention completely from beginning to the end.

“I hear speeches every day in the parliament hall. I have heard so many speeches from so many people, but her speech was different, very honest, inspiring, hopeful, straightforward, and original. I realized that the woman who was standing in front of me was somebody very special. Even her posture, movements of hand, body and facial expressions were very deep and showed that she was special. … So I started to do some research, received a book from Jessy, and finally came to the conclusion that the goal of this organization is the same as my wish … a world where everyone can be happy, not only peaceful but happy.”
