Ambassadors for Peace

UPF-Peru’s Ambassadors for Peace Live for the Sake of Others During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Peru-2020-06-30-UPF-Peru’s Ambassadors for Peace Live for the Sake of Others During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Lima, Peru—The Ambassadors for Peace in Peru believe strongly in the principle of "living for the sake of others." When the lockdown started in Peru in March, many of them started organizing activities of solidarity to aid low-income families, bringing them food.

We want to share with the worldwide UPF community some of our inspiring testimonies. The families who live in the hills of the Villa Maria del Triunfo District and who do not receive a fixed salary from the state were visited by our Ambassador for Peace, Brother Victor Calderón Rodríguez, with a group of volunteers, taking bags of food to them.

Other Ambassadors for Peace have also responded to the challenge, working in different districts of Lima to bring aid to those most in need. The funds for this work were donated by other Ambassadors for Peace.

Congressman Orestes Sanchez (former president of UPF-Peru) also worked hard to help the poor people of Lima. He became infected by the virus but fortunately after some weeks in the hospital made a complete recovery.

Ambassador for Peace Psychologist Dr. Belisario Zanabria Moreno, former national dean of the College of Psychologists of Peru, is actively collaborating and participating in conjunction with the Municipality of Jauja and Civil Defense, distributing food aid and  blankets to vulnerable populations, especially the young and elderly.

Donation of medicine in Aucallama-Huaral: Ambassador for Peace Víctor Calderón Rodríguez with the coordination of Ambassador for Peace Nancy Vigo delivered a batch of more than 1,000 medications, consisting of vitamins, antibiotics, etc. This donation was to help the inmates in the Aucallama-Huaral prison.

Ambassador for Peace Juan Otazu delivers chickens to vulnerable families. Within the period of quarantine, our social work continues with the distribution of chickens free of charge. The families that have benefited are from the poorest areas.

Our weekly radio program continues to attract a large audience, with an average reach to 1,800 people every week.
