Address to World Summit
February 11-13, 2022
This is a very timely summit that is convened in Seoul from February 10 to 14 to discuss reconciliation on the Korean peninsula. I appreciate the theme very much, as well as the initiative that our foundation has taken through Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, whose dynamism I commend. I support the multiform initiatives she is deploying for world peace.
This high-level meeting, which will be led by two important personalities, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, H.E. Samdech Hun Sen and H.E. Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary General of the United Nations, will naturally lead to the formulation of the most interesting proposals, the most elaborate ones possible, so that there can be peace at the level of the two Koreas, at the level of the peninsula.
The theme that has been chosen, which is a very good theme of reconciliation, is a theme of national importance at the level of the two Koreas but also of international importance. It is a question of resolving an old problem that dates back to the 1950s, a difficult and complex problem that involves a number of political actors and in particular the world’s major powers.
I am convinced that during this February meeting in Seoul, the proposals that will be made will allow for rapid, progressive, and concrete solutions, and above all, that these solutions can also be used to resolve other conflicts throughout the world, a world that we all want, a world of peace, as UPF aspires to, a world where it is good to live in, a world where all conflicts must be resolved peacefully, through discussion and negotiation.
I wish this meeting in Seoul great success. I thank you.
