G. W. Panton: Address to World Summit 2022, Session VI

Address to World Summit
February 11-13, 2022

On behalf of the people and government of the Cayman Islands, I wish to offer our appreciation to Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Co-Founder of the Universal Peace Federation, for hosting the World Summit 2022. My sincere appreciation is also extended to Co-Chairs, H.E. Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia and H.E. Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary General of the United Nations.

We join with other nations in recognizing the importance of building a world of peace, especially during a time when international relations are strained with threats on a variety of fronts, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, poverty, and family breakdown.

The path to peace, though not easy, can be achieved if we work together to rebuild trust, thus breaking down barriers of division and establishing mutual respect. We can achieve more through open dialogue, cultural exchange, tourism and trade than to rely solely on traditional diplomacy. No man is an island, and no country should have to stand alone. It takes a village, not just to raise a child, but to live in harmony. Let us make a concerted effort to learn from each other.

We can achieve our goal of world peace. I have hope and it begins with you.

Thank you.
