Include information that UPF keeps track of: type of event; how many participants, from what backgrounds; title of the event; date(s) and location of the event; name of co-sponsor(s).
Tell the basics in one or two sentences: Who? What? Where? When? Why?
UPF-Azerbaijan held a meeting in Baku on October 11, 2007, the end of Ramadan. The event, which included a dinner for 200 participants, was sponsored by Dr. Akif Kerimov, President of "Kur Xazar." [report about an Ambassadors for Peace event in Azerbaijan]
Hook the reader’s interest. Interreligious dialogues are part of formal MEPI programs, but some of the most meaningful dialogues can take place in a place of worship, on a tour bus, in a hotel lobby, or on a seaside wharf. Consider the following example. [Report about a MEPI trip]
Direct Quote key people. Opening remarks were given by the Sri Lankan Speaker of Parliament, Hon. W.J.M. Lokubandara. “MPs need to understand,” he told the audience of legislators, “that they do not have supremacy, but have responsibility.” [report about an ILC in Sri Lanka]
Give some background to help readers understand the reason for the activity. Attohou is an area that is rebuilding after five years of civil war between the largely Muslim north and largely Christian south. [report about a service project in Cote d’Ivoire]
Give evidence of impact. “Spending time in the company of imams and sheikhs and priests, I find that I am sitting with myself because we are one. I can see that we can live together as people of different religions.” [reflection by a participant in an ILC conference in Tiberias, Israel]
Include something of interest to people in other countries and cultures. "It may seem strange to imagine that religion and sports can lead to peace," said International Director John Gehring. "Athletic competitions offer opportunities for friendly interactions among different teams let them taste what peace looks like and feels like. [report about the Interreligious Peace Sports Festival]
Explain special terms. One of the priorities has been helping to reform the madrasas, which are religious schools. [report about an ILC in New York City]
Describe plans for follow-up. Future performances are planned for Jerusalem, the United States, Japan, Cyprus, South America, and Ukraine. [report about the premiere performance of “Halelu”]
Suggested length: 300-700 words
- one for every 150 words in the report
- one with a banner
- other photos showing the most distinguished participants and people interacting with each other
