Legacy of Peace: Organizing a Memorial Ceremony

Sample text for the master of ceremonies

Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, good evening.

We are gathered here today to celebrate the legacy of these remarkable individuals who have made a valuable contribution to peace. They lived with distinction and honor and for the sake of others. They made a difference in their family, their community, their nation, and the world. We honor and remember them with fondness and respect.

Our life is a journey, with others and for others—a journey that brings us to another, higher dimension: the spiritual world. Occasions such as this lead us to wonder how our own life will be remembered when we leave this world. I hope and pray that all of us will be remembered because we dared to care, forgive, share, love and serve others.

Let us remember the lives of distinguished patriots and heroes, such as the ones we are honoring today, in order to enter the same realm of their blessing. Their lives embody the value of living for the sake of the world.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are now going to take a few moments to honor these extraordinary men and women. As I call each one of their names, I would like to ask a representative to step forward and present a flower bouquet in front of their photo. Please remain standing behind each picture until each representative has finished presenting their bouquet. The lilies represent the love of a woman, and the roses the love of a man.

We honor [name and position]

and so on.

Thank you. I now invite everyone to stand together and observe a moment of silence.
