The UPF-Nigeria Annual General Peace Assembly 2016 will be devoted to Peace Vision 2020 and will be held at the Conference Hall, Owerri Hotel Plaza, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, on December 9 to 11, 2016.

The assembly, which will bring together Ambassadors for Peace from across Nigeria and those in Diaspora, as well as representatives from the media, faith-based organizations, local parliamentarians, government agencies, educational institutions and community leaders, will provide a golden opportunity to deliberate on the challenges and strategies for actualizing the Peace Vision 2020 in Nigeria.

The Annual General Peace Assembly 2016 will focus on formulating the National Peace Goals 2017-2020 and articulating steps for the realization of the National Peace Architecture including the National Peace Culture, National Peace Structure and the National Peace Infrastructure.

The Opening Session will focus on the UPF Founders’ Vision and Principles for Peace. In Session One, which will be devoted to a National Culture of Peace, participants will deliberate on the national peace code of conduct, national peace curriculum of education and the national peace constitution for the country.

Session Two will focus on strengthening the National Structure for Peace, involving the issues of raising peaceful citizens, building peaceful families and establishing peaceful communities and institutions.

Session Three will be devoted to the need for a National Infrastructure for Peace, and participants will deliberate on innovative ways to ensure the development and utilization of resources for peace with an emphasis on national production, distribution and consumption infrastructure for a strong but peaceful economy to bring Nigeria out of the present economic recession.

The closing session will be devoted to the proclamation of Peace Vision 2020, endorsement of the National Peace Goals and related activities.
