Lanús, Argentina—Ambassadors for Peace pastor Rubén Contreras and his wife, Laura Navarro, who are the directors of the human rights nonprofit, Proyecto Vida, organized an event on “Words as a Tool for Peace.” The program took place on November 19, 2016 at the San Martín Library in Lanús, a city located just south of the capital city of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires province.
The event began with a message, given by Mr. Contreras, on the topic, “Foundations of Words.” The next speakers were Mr. Carlos Varga, director of UPF-Argentina, and Mr. Miguel Werner, secretary-general of UPF-Argentina, who spoke on “Words as the Guide for a Peace Culture” and “Words of Peace,” respectively.
The next speaker was Mr. Alejandro D’Alessandro, president of CPESS and a member of UPF-Argentina’s Peace Council, who gave a speech on “Building Peace Together.” Ms. Laura Navarro de Contreras, director of Fundación Lanús gave the last speech, which was on “The Permanent Language of Peace.” She gave various examples of solidarity and forgiveness.
At the end of the event, certificates were given to the speakers, and a prayer was offered by pastor Eduardo Corales, who is a member of UPF-Argentina’s Peace Council.
