Buenos Aires, Argentina—The writer Nélida Pessagno, an Ambassador for Peace and a patron of UPF-Argentina’s International Poetry Contest, was awarded Outstanding Personality in the Field of Culture of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires by the city’s legislature. The event was held on December 20, 2016 at Salón Montevideo, and was attended by many of her friends and supporters, who cheered for her when she received the award.

The awards committee praised Mrs. Pessagno, who is a vice president of the Argentinean Society of Writers (SADE). After receiving the award, she highlighted the importance of culture and education in the development of people. The committee consisted of, among others, Ambassador for Peace, writer Marta Candiotti, pro-secretary of culture at SADE. “She’s a profoundly ethical woman,” said Mrs. Candiotti of Mrs. Pessagno.
