La Paz, Bolivia—More than 200 people, including 54 members of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia, judges, and academic and civil society leaders, attended the launch of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) in Bolivia. The event took place on August 17, 2017 in the Germania Salon of Hotel Europa in La Paz, the capital of the country.

Among the guests were vice president of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly of Bolivia, Mrs. Romina Pérez Ramos; former ombudsman, Dr. Rolando Villena; former president of the Chamber of Deputies, Dr. Luis Vázquez, and other current and former government leaders.

UPF’s international delegation comprised of UPF-Latin America regional chair, Dr. Sang Suek Kim; UPF-South America president, Rev. Dong Mo Shin; Paraguayan congressman Hon. Héctor Lesme; and UPF-North America regional secretary general, Mr. Ricardo de Sena.

During the program, Deputy Hon. Jhovana Jordán, expressed her gratitude to UPF co-founder, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, that the launch of the IAPP in Bolivia could be realized.

On August 18, a special session was held at the Plurinational Legislative Assembly, where deputies and senators signed the declaration launching the Bolivia chapter of the IAPP. Also during the program, international guests were recognized by the Parliamentary Brigade of La Paz.
