Port Vila, Vanuatu—A member of Vanuatu’s Parliament traveled to Seoul, Korea, to attend the International Leadership Conference from February 28 to March 4.
The UPF-organized conference this year had the theme “Beyond the Challenges of Our Time: Transforming the Society, Nation and World.”
Mr. Daniel Nalet showed his great respect for UPF Founders Dr. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon’s worldwide peace movement and was impressed with their substantial achievements.
Following the close of the ILC, Mr. Nalet visited the Saemaul Undong Central Training Institute and learned the basic spirit and history of the Saemaul Undong (“New Village Movement”), which the South Korean government developed in the early 1970s to encourage economic development in the Korean countryside.
Traveling around Seoul and seeing the evidence of South Korea’s miraculous development, Mr. Nalet committed himself to bringing Saemaul Undong’s methods to Vanuatu and to becoming one of its leaders.
UPF-Vanuatu supports Saemaul Undong education, in the belief that the same methods that contributed to South Korea’s current prosperity will bring similar results in Vanuatu.
