ILC2021 Asia Pacific, August 20: Closing Session

Asia Pacific—The closing session of the August 19-20 International Leadership Conference 2021 (ILC2021) and Think Tank 2022 Global Forum for UPF’s Asia Pacific region was held on August 20. The event, whose theme was “Toward Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula: Ideologies, Worldviews and International Relations,” was the last of eight sessions that were convened during the two-day conference.
More than 1,100 people registered for the event. A total of 230 participants watched it live on Zoom while thousands viewed it on YouTube and Facebook Live.
Congratulatory remarks were given by three speakers. Mr. Masaichi Hori, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) Asia Pacific 2, commended UPF on the success of the ILC and expressed his hope that the conference contributed to creating awareness of the importance of Korean reunification. Mrs. Shova Gyawali, founder and publisher of the Nepal Republic Media, Nepal, and Hon Ly Chheng, a member of Parliament and chairman of Beltei International University, Cambodia, extended their congratulations and affirmed their solidarity for the cause of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, a former minister of the government of Nepal and chairman of UPF-Asia Pacific, gave a summary of the ILC and highlighted some of the recommendations various speakers made.
The session concluded with a dance performance called “Hwageom” presented by The Little Angels Korean Children’s Folk Ballet.
Mrs. Ursula McLackland, secretary general of UPF-Asia Pacific, moderated the session.
