Seoul, Korea—In written reflections, participants at the World Summit 2020 Assembly expressed their thoughts after hearing the words of UPF co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, the Sunhak Peace Prize laureates, and the presentations by the many distinguished speakers.
“I appreciated the focus that Ambassador Ban Ki-moon places on multilateralism. These are dangerous times that we live in. Multilateralism is under attack. Ban Ki Moon wants to use his time and experience to help develop better relations between people and to reduce conflict. Mother Moon embodies the link between spirituality and humanity. She is the most unselfish person I’ve ever met. She is willing to share all her resources with the world. She is wonderful.”
“I don’t have the words to describe how I feel about the work of the Sunhak Peace Prize Institute and the work and activities of Mother Moon. Our delegation members are deeply touched by her depth of heart and concern for humanity. My soul feels cleansed by our time in Korea.”
“I was very inspired to see that Ban Ki-moon is being honored. He is working for climate justice, sustainable development, and dignity of the human person. It is incredible that I could come here and meet him! [He waved Mr. Ban’s business card excitedly in the air.]. Dr. Moon and the work of UPF are extraordinary. There is something wrong that everyone in the whole world doesn’t know about this good work!!!”
“Overall the program was excellent. So well organized. I loved the speakers, especially Ban Ki-moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. Their messages about peace were so meaningful. Mother Moon’s message about peace beginning with me, the family, interdependence, mutual prosperity and common values really resonates with me and my values. We do need to eradicate poverty, hunger, and conflict. I feel so much hope with UPF and the Sunhak Peace Prize.”
“I was most impressed by Ban Ki-moon. His heart is so inspiring. It was wonderful to see all the amazing things he is doing and the admiration from past Sunhak Award winners. He has done so much in so many areas. He encourages our hearts that if we continue to do good, then it will flush out the evil. I am inspired to do good when I return home. He really understands the vision of Father and Mother Moon. I want to do something with my life. I felt Mother Moon was very happy during the Sunhak program. She seems to understand our pain and at the same time has the ability to make us feel God’s love. I believe in my heart Reverend Moon and Mother Moon were sent to this Earth to be an example of God’s love and to be a guide for us.”
“The Sunhak Peace Prize is a wonderful way of drawing attention to individuals who have made a major contribution to peace in various fields and highlights the inspiration this can bring. It is a tribute to the recipients that they are humble as to their achievements and acknowledge the participation of others in line with the adage that those who are great are often those with the greatest humility. In an age searching for role models, we should recognize that these are often to be found in the most unlikely places.”
“I am very honored to attend the events organized by the Universal Peace Federation. This is my lucky and fortunate week to be in this wonderful city of Seoul, Korea. I feel a great sense of trust and harmony here. There are different sorts of harmony; however tranquility of the heart is the internal tranquility of a person, which is conceived in the psyche just as in the heart. The World Summit 2020 mirrors these four components. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon and the UPF for this special blessing. I pray for a successful and splendid future for this extraordinary organization and movement.”
“Words can't describe my deep appreciation to Mother Moon and to this incredible organization. Your holy work and absolute dedication for peace and friendship among all humankind deserve endless praise. I agree wholeheartedly that governments and leaders should play a role in making the world a safer place and that the world’s faiths have a crucial obligation to work together for world peace. As it is written in the Talmud, whoever saves a single life is considered to have saved the whole world. Mother Moon, you are saving millions. I salute you and all who assist you and will be always happy to be a loyal partner to you.”
“It was a great honor for me to attend this World Summit and represent my Druze faith. This is an incredibly important conference. I’m so impressed by the free and open exchange of ideas. There were significant and interesting discussions. I always felt that there was a sense of mutual respect. I participated in an interfaith panel that discussed the role of religion in dealing with the world’s challenges. I found it stimulating and thought-provoking. Let us work together and find ways to continue this dialogue.”
“Mother Moon talks about us all being rivers leading to one sea. I feel we are a tiny tributary, but I and many others have made it from our tiny tributary to the ocean. Whether we live in Africa or Europe or any place in the world, we have made it here. Mother Moon has made this all possible, she holds the vision, and this conference has manifested it, bringing together people who normally wouldn’t come together. In the same way, people everywhere can come together and thus we can work for peace.”
“We do have differences in theology, but the good thing is that we can talk very openly about them. And apart from differences, we also share a lot of common values, and we are helping each other to make progress. I am grateful for the invitation to the events.”
“This was one of the best experiences in my life! When a colleague invited me, I thought it would be a small and ordinary conference. Little did I suspect such a magnitude of participants from around the world. Whatever I imagined turned out to be far more exceptional. My passion is youth. I connect and coordinate with these people to do much more. I am grateful to Mother Moon, who envisioned this conference and bringing all the world’s people to share and work together.”
“On this last day of the summit, I feel it was a time to see a little bit of heaven on the earth. It was an unforgettable time in my life. I thank God for enlightening Dr. Moon and for extending an invitation to me to attend this magnificent event. I don't have the words to adequately express my gratitude for Dr. Moon’s generosity and benevolence. I ask God to continue to pour out His grace upon Dr. Moon, UPF and this invaluable peace movement. God bless you all.”
