World Tolerance Summit Announced for Dubai

UAE-2018-08-11-World Tolerance Summit Announced for Dubai

Dubai, United Arab Emirates—The first World Tolerance Summit will be convened in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, in November 2018.

The summit will be convened under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the UAE and the ruler of the Emirate of Dubai.

More than 500 delegates will gather from around the world for a conference on "Prospering from Pluralism: Embracing Diversity through Innovation and Collaboration."

The Universal Peace Federation is an official supporting partner of the summit and will be sending a delegation. David Fraser Harris, the UPF regional secretary general for the Middle East and North Africa, commented: "It is heartening to see a nation's leadership emphasizing the positive side to diversity. Ninety percent of those who live in the UAE come from other nations—200 different nationalities! Learning to live in harmony together brings real benefits for everyone. There are lessons to be learned here by all of us."

The World Tolerance Summit was created to gather government leaders, key figures from the public and private sectors, peacekeeping ambassadors and change-makers from around the world to discuss the great importance of tolerance, peace and equality, and to celebrate diversity among people from all walks of life, regardless of varying political views and cultural and religious backgrounds.
