IAPP Representative Meets with Maldives Leaders

Male, Maldives—The president of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) in the Asia-Pacific, Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, and a UPF representative, met with leaders in the South Asian island nation of the Maldives from January 1 to 5, 2018.
Meetings were held with two members of the People’s Majilis, the unicameral legislative body of the Maldives, from the majority party, the Progressive Party of Maldives; the minister of education, Mrs. Aishath Shiham, which was coordinated by Mr. Mohamed Hanim, deputy minister of health and investment; the minister of housing and infrastructure, Mr. Mohamed Muizzu; and Lt. Col. Hassan Yoosof (Ret.), the father of Mr. Hanim.
The UPF delegation also met with Mr. Ahmed Latheef, an Ambassador for Peace and vice president of the Maldives Olympic Committee and regional vice president of the Asian Table Tennis Union.
