Peace Tour Brings Together Congo Brazzaville and Kinshasa

Congo Brazzaville-2009-04-17-Peace Tour Brings Together Congo Brazzaville and Kinshasa

Brazzaville, Republic of Congo - The Global Peace Tour gathering at the Palace of the Parliament in Congo-Brazzaville on April 17 brought together participants and speakers from the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, whose capital Kinshasa is just across the river. The region has been one of the most unstable in the world, and the audience listened intently to the message of One Family under God.

The keynote address of the Global Peace Tour was read by Rev. Michel Annulé Ndolo, Secretary General of Congo-Brazzaville. The Secretary General of Congo-Kinshasa also spoke, as well as former Minister Jean Dello, Chairman Justin Koumba, and Former Minister Jean François Obembe.

Five new Ambassadors for Peace were appointed: Minister Emile Mabonzo, Minister Jean Richard Bruno Itoua, Marcel Leoubo (Parliamentarian), Jean Gokaba (academician) and Samuel Bidounga (civil servant). Youth Ambassadors for Peace performed the "Global Peace Song."

In June, a month before the July presidential elections, UPF-Congo leaders visited all the departments of the republic to speak to local authorities and the general public and the universal values that can be the basis for lasting peace. During this comprehensive tour several officials were appointed Ambassadors for Peace, including prefects and mayors.
