Peace Tour Builds UPF in St. Vincent

The Universal Peace Federation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines hosted a banquet on October 12 at which Mr. Shin Bok Hong, a grandson of Rev. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon, delivered the UPF peace messages. Sixty persons attended the banquet which was held at the Sunset Shores Hotel.

The guests were greeted by the playing of a CD of sacred music by a Korean concert pianist, after which was shown a video entitled “Man of Peace,” a synopsis of the work of UPF Founders Rev. and Mrs. Moon towards creating world peace.

Following opening remarks by the chairperson Mrs. Kay Bacchus-Browne, a prominent attorney on the island, and a stirring opening prayer by Dawn Bacchus-Horan, a Caribbean fashion designer, our special guest was warmly welcomed by Mr. Parnell Campbell, former Attorney General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the current chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Dinner was then served. Mr. Hong read the speech entitled “God’s ideal Family and the Kingdom of the Peaceful Ideal World,” written by his grandfather.

At the conclusion of the speech, Mr. Hong presented certificates to five new Ambassadors for Peace.

Three bouquets were presented: one to Mr. Hong, one to the former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and a current parliamentarian Mr. Arnhim Eustace, and one to Mr. Parnel Campbell.

The gathering was entertained by the singing of a duet “How Great Thou Art” by Kay Bacchus-Browne and Ms. Réchanne Browne, also an attorney on the island. This was followed by a beautiful rendition of the Lord’s Prayer by Mr. Katsuyoshi Watanabe from Japan.

The Universal Peace Federation in St. Vincent was ably supported by four Japanese women – Yuriko Matsubara, Yukie Takeoka, Yoko Suzuki, Sachiko Yamada – as well as Mr. Watanabe.

The evening ended with a prayer by Rev. Errol Fergus, the leader of the local Bible Missionary Church, who also is an Ambassador for Peace.

So impressed were Rev. Fergus and his assistant Pastor Owen Daniel that they accepted Dawn Bacchus-Horan's invitation to come to their church in San Souci and give a presentation about UPF.

Mr. Hong also travelled to the vibrant village of Cedars, where he delivered the peace message to an attentive audience at the Freedom Hall Church of God.
