The convocation was opened by Master of Ceremonies Mr. Fredrick Wakhisi, Secretary General of UPF-Kenya. The invocation was offered by Archbishop Filatheous Faraj, an Orthodox Church leader in Sudan. Dr. Thomas Walsh invited couples to join in a world peace blessing toast of marriage rededication.

Special remarks about the activities of Dr. and Mrs. Sun Myung Moon were given by three distinguished Ambassadors for Peace. These included Hon. Hussein Aideed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Internal Security of Somali; Rt. Rev. Eng. Caleb Olali, Archbishop of the Nomiya Church of Africa; and Ms. Nazlin Umar Rajput, Chair of the National Muslim Council of Kenya.
