IAPP Launched in Bhutan

Thimphu, Bhutan—The International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) was inaugurated at an event held at Hotel Magmar in Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, on August 2, 2017.
The chief guest of the program was Hon. Lyonpo Dorji Choden, minister of works and human settlement of Bhutan. Hon. Choden is Bhutan’s first female minister, and is also the chairperson of the royal government’s National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC).
The special guest of the program was former minister of peace and reconstruction of Nepal, and IAPP-Asia co-chair, Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal. Hon. Dhakal gave the keynote speech, which included a presentation on the IAPP and UPF Founders Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s vision for peace.
Among those who attended the program were five Bhutanese members of parliament and Bhutanese princess Hon. Khendum Dorji.
Also during his visit to Nepal, Hon. Dhakal and the coordinator of UPF-Bhutan, met with the deputy speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan, Hon. Chimi Dorji.
