UPF-Brazil Inaugurates the International Association of Academicians for Peace

Brazil—On July 22, 2021, the International Association of Academicians for Peace (IAAP) held the “Inauguration Assembly of the Association of Academicians for World Peace in Brazil.”
With the aim of strengthening links for the promotion of peace, eminent people from the academic world participated, presenting their ideas on how education can be the key to achieving a world of peace. Held online by the Zoom platform, the event was attended by 7 panelists and watched on YouTube by 342 people.
The emcee of the event was Dr. André Rocha, secretary of AFUPM in São Paulo – Brazil, who welcomed everyone present and thanked them for attending. He then spoke on the importance of strengthening links for peace.
After the performance of the Brazilian National Anthem, several UPF leaders spoke, starting with Rev. Dong Mo Shin, regional chairman of UPF South America. He expressed his congratulations and outlined plans for the realization of universal values, where each one in his area of expertise can work, without losing hope.
Dr. Simão Ferabolli, secretary general of UPF in South America, presented the vision and work of UPF and the Ambassadors for Peace around the world, emphasizing the mission that Ambassadors for Peace must fulfill.
Dr. Thomas Selover, chairman of IAAP-International, spoke about IAAP initiatives around the world that are presenting the values and goals of the IAAP.
Afterwards, Dr. Maribel Barreto, Dr. Roberto Silva Gomes and Prof. Murad Karabachian, each gave congratulatory remarks on the inauguration of IAAP Brazil and presented the role of education in resolving global conflicts and achieving peace.
At the end we enjoyed a performance given by the Children’s Choir and Philharmonic Orchestra of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.
Prof. Danilo Correa offered words of thanks, emphasizing the importance of connecting education to the global peace-building process, thus creating a network of academics who will work together to develop practical ways to achieve peace.
