Mongolia can meaningfully contribute to the security of Northeast Asia. I think that we have a strong foundation to say this because the relationship between Mongolia and Korea started a thousand years ago, and we have strong connections of lineage.

Based on this history, Mongolia is the one of the few countries that maintains friendly and harmonious relations with both South and North Korea. We feel assured that this is our great asset in dealing with both Koreas. Using this advantage, Mongolia is well qualified to act as a mediator between the two Koreas.

Practically speaking, I propose that Mongolia be invited to join the Six-Party Talks, and it could even host the talks in its capital, Ulaanbaatar. I also propose that future Japan-North Korean normalization talks be held in Mongolia.
