New Delhi, India—A special leadership seminar on “Peace and Development in North East Asia and the World,” supporting UPF’s Northeast Asia Peace Initiative (NEAPI), took place at the Shangri-la’s – Eros Hotel in New Delhi, India on February 10, 2021. More than 50 high-level participants, including eight parliamentarians as well as legislators, academicians, business leaders, media representatives and civil society leaders, attended the event.
The program, which featured four main speakers, was organized by UPF-India, the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace (IAPP) and the International Association for Economic Development (IAED) in partnership with the Indian Institute of Public Policy (IIPP), a non-profit think tank in Chennai.
Amb. K.V. Rajan, a former ambassador of India, gave the welcoming and opening remarks. Also speaking at the event was former minister of Nepal and chairman of UPF- and the IAPP-Asia Pacific, Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, who gave the keynote address. Following his remarks, three experts addressed the seminar: Amb. Skand Tayal and Amb. Vishnu Prakash, former ambassadors of India to South Korea, and Mr. Parth Sharma, a businessman with 15 years of experience doing business in South Korea who is president of corporate development of the Reliance Group India.
During the event, the participants shared their views on the seminar theme.
The program concluded with closing remarks given by IAPP-South Asia chair and Member of Parliament from the ruling party of India, Hon. Bhubaneswar Kalita.
