Warsaw, Poland—UPF held a webinar on the potential of the arts to support Korean reunification.
The online conference, titled "ArtknowsNOBorders," took place on September 18, 2021.
The webinar was held to support the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula.
Both North and South Korea have several thousand years of shared culture and history. This webinar showed that these common roots are alive and are expressed in the works of many Korean artists in music, dance and the visual arts. Art knows no borders and reaches out to the hearts of everyone; therefore it can be a foundation for mutual understanding and prosperity.
Several very exciting panelists gave presentations:
Ji Suk Baek Tomas, born in South Korea but living in Croatia, a well-known painter who also teaches in art schools;
Isabella Krapf from Austria, a professional chromatic harmonica player and teacher and vice president of the Austrian chapter of the association Friends of the DPRK;
Jonasz Kwonnam Czyszczon from Poland, an aspiring photographer and filmmaker, working with not only Polish but also international projects.
Heartfelt closing remarks were offered by the secretary general of UPF Poland, Krzysztof Gago.
UPF-Poland is looking forward to organizing additional webinars with the title "ArtknowsNOBorders."
