Paris, France—The “Dialogue & Alliance” cooperation circle held its monthly interfaith meeting on the topic "What Do Spiritual Disciplines Bring Us?”
This theme for the meeting, held on April 3, 2022, was chosen because it was the fifth Sunday of Lent and the beginning of the month of Ramadan 1443.
More than 100 people registered from 17 countries: Austria, Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, France, Japan, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Pakistan, Republic of Congo, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.
More than 20 people came in person to the Espace Barrault conference center, and many more people watched the program on Facebook pages.
The moderator was Soraya Ayouch, a clinical psychologist, an assistant professor at Paris Diderot University (“Paris 7”), and a member of the Al Moultaqa Foundation, Tarika Kadiria Boutchichya.
The first reading, Surah 2:183, was commented on by Oum El Ghaït El Alj and Hajar Masbah, who are very active in the Islamic-Christian dialogue.
The second reading, Matthew 4:1-4, was commented on by Catholic Father François-Xavier Nssi Essono.
Internationally renowned Lebanese soprano Tania Kassis then performed her "Islamo-Christian Ave Maria."
The third reading brought a look at Judaism. It was the passage from Isaiah 58:4 to 7, read and commented on by the Orthodox Rabbi Gabriel Hagai.
The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session.
The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, 2022, on the International Day of Families.
