Russia-2011-02-22-St. Petersburg Peace Council Discusses Interfaith Developments

St. Petersburg, Russia - At the February 22 meeting of the UPF Peace Council of North-West Russia, Krasnosumova Tatyana reported about the Festival of Spiritual Music held to commemorate the UN Week of Interfaith Harmony in Kondopoga, Karelia. The festival helped unite people of different religions and contribute to mutual understanding by helping people see that despite our differences we all long for peace and kindness. Art is an important factor in the matter.

Also, the participants listened to the information of the Peace Council volunteer, Denis Pigasov, concerning the idea of individual meetings with Ambassadors for Peace to stimulate greater interaction and cooperation including more concrete planning of "Baltic Dialogue" activities.

The slide presentation of the chairman of the St. Petersburg branch of the international grassroots organization “International Super-marathon Association,” Alexander Korotkov, about the marathon throughout Sicilia evoked great interest of the audience.

The chairperson of the grassroots organization “School of Nature ‘Island’”, Tatyana Kudryavtseva, gave a short report on the activity of her public body. In her speech she emphasized that goals, objectives, and events topicality of “School of nature ‘Island’” and UPF coincide on many points; therefore, there’s a good prospective for their joint activity.

On request of the participants, Anna Meledina spoke about her activity in the Youth Alliance of Russia. She is in charge of work with young experts. She also mentioned that cooperation with UPF brings benefit to both sides.

The meeting was attended by Ambassadors for Peace and Young Peace Ambassadors.
