Interreligious Consultation in New Delhi

New Delhi, India - UPF-India organized a consultation meeting on interfaith cooperation on Jan. 11, 2011, at the prestigious Goa State House Meeting Hall in the presence of about 25 high-level delegates.
Participants included:
- The Chairman of UPF-India, Hon. Eduardo Faleiro, Former Minister of Government of India and Current Commissioner of the NRI Commission of the Government of Goa
- The Chairman of UPF-Sikkim, Hon. G. M. Gurung, Former Minister and Current Advisor of the Government of Sikkim
- The Vice-Chair of UPF-India, Amb. K.V. Rajan, Former Ambassador and Current Member of the National Security Council Advisory Board
- Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, Member of the Parliament of Nepal
Other high-level government, civil society, and religious representatives were present.
Participants decided to organize a larger event and invite government leaders, parliamentarians, religious leaders, and civil society representatives. Such an event would help inform government officials about the need for interfaith councils at the national level and at the United Nations.
