Dhaka, Bangladesh - Haqqani Anjuman held its 19th annual Universal Peace Prayer Meeting in Bangladesh Dec. 7, 2013 at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh. Participants included well-known Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian and Sikh scholars from home and abroad. The Bangladesh representatives of the International Association for Religious Freedom, Religions for Peace, United Religions Initiative and Universal Peace Federation supported the program, offered prayers and gave speeches.

The chief guest at the 2013 meeting was former Chief Justice of Bangladesh Sayed Mudassir Hussain.
Speakers included Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam, secretary general of UPF-Bangladesh and director of the Center for Inter-Religious and Intercultural Dialogue of the University of Dhaka, and Dr. Shamsher Ali, president of UPF-Bangladesh and professor at the University of Dhaka.
These Universal Peace Prayer Meetings have been organized by Haqqani Anjumand-Bangladesh, a Sufi organization with head offices in Kolkata, India. Since the organization is dedicated to promoting interreligious peace and harmony in the world, the interfaith activists in Bangladesh, and even the government, support these prayer meetings.
