Montreal, Canada - One of the results of the recent Quebec election on April 7, 2014 is that the raging debate over the Quebec Charter of Values has been laid to rest - at least temporarily. Ambassadors for Peace, friends of UPF and others gathered in Montreal on May 5 to revisit the place of religion and religious values in modern society.
A Catholic priest, a Lutheran pastor, an Augustinian theologian, an evangelical Christian and representatives of several traditions discussed whether religion is simply a personal matter and whether religious expression should be no more than conspicuous clothing and colorful holidays.
After a brief presentation, participants engaged in an animated discussion about the role of religion within secular society, its positive contributions and the areas that need to be improved.
