African Religious Leaders Discuss UPF Founders' Vision

South Africa-2015-01-27~29-Founder’s Teachings Seminar

Johannesburg, South Africa - The executive committee of the All African Federation of Churches (AAFC) attended a three-day introduction to the teachings of UPF Founder Dr. Sun Myung Moon.

The seminar took place from Jan. 27 to 29, 2015, at the Anashe Conference Centre in Midrand, a community that is part of Greater Johannesburg.

Prophet Samuel Radebe, the deputy president of AAFC, gave a short introduction to start the seminar, thanking UPF for the privilege of learning about the UPF vision, and particularly about its founder.

Rev. Jean Augustin Ghomsi, UPF regional secretary general for Southern Africa, and Rev. Kevin Meth, UPF-South Africa secretary general, were the main lecturers. The bishops and archbishops listened very attentively, and there were occasional nods of agreement and questions for purposes of clarity.

At the end of the second day Archbishop Nchene Tsekedi, the president of AAFC, rose and profusely thanked UPF for sharing such profound insights. Other archbishops and bishops also expressed their amazement at the content of Dr. Moon’s teachings and said how privileged they felt to be in this seminar.

On the third day Prophet Radebe gave a moving testimony of how he had been called at the age of sixteen to work for God through the ministry of prophecy. He said that much of Dr. Moon’s teachings was aligned with his own understanding of God and His Word.

After the final lecture on the third day Rev. Bakary Camara, the UPF regional president for East Africa, gave an inspiring testimony about how he had come to know Dr. Moon and why he decided to follow him.

After his talk, the AAFC and UPF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which bound the two organizations in a working relationship to carry out the vision of UPF. The seminar concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and with Rev. Camara awarding Ambassador for Peace awards to three of the attendees. He also gave Prophet Radebe a book of Dr. Moon’s teachings as a gift.
