Madrid, Spain - UPF-Spain's April 18, 2009 forum on Marriage and Family Values featured a presentation on the topic of "What to Value in Our Conjugal Partner."
Program coordinator Mercedes González gave some introductory remarks about the importance of husband and wife appreciating and valuing each other, recognizing that men and women are meant to complement each other. If husband and wife are in unity, harmony, and understanding, not only their family but society as a whole will benefit.
The Chorus for Peace sang “Vois sur ton chemin,” followed by a presentation by Mr. Manuel Campillo, a businessman and UPF family counselor and educator.
He gave a well-prepared lecture on the relationship of man and woman and how they should complement and understand each other's characters and basic original value. He described his father's deep love for his mother and how he wrote many love letters to her. He read one of his father's love letters, enchanting the audience. A toast for family peace and love followed.
The chorus sang another song, “Caresse sur l’ocean,” followed by a presentation by Mr. Manuel Varela Ferrero, a teacher of traditional Chinese medicine, Reiki, and Shiatsu. He talked about “The law of affinity and the law of vibration.”
Mr. Agustín Peña and his wife Justina Carbajal received an award and floral bouquet in recognition of their 48 years of marriage and nine children. A daughter spoke in praise of her parents, giving the audience a sense of their warmth and sincerity.
Armando Lozano, National Director of UPF, concluded with some insights into marriage relationships based on his own life experiences.
A well-known painter, Mr. Daniel Aguirre, commented over refreshments afterwards: “I like these family programs more and more.”
