Sydney, Australia - A celebration of Marriage as a Journey of Love took place in UPF's Oceania Peace Embassy in Sydney on August 25. The program presented the ideal of a God-centered marriage and insight about overcoming the challenges faced in marriage life. In attendance were 55 Ambassadors for Peace and guests.
MC Jago Gavin welcomed the audience and shared personal reflections. The program included excerpts from a stimulating DVD by Rev. Mark Gungor – “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage,” a thought-provoking presentation on marriage by Rev. Greg Stone, and an inspiring DVD on “The Power of True Love” featuring a World Peace Marriage Blessing ceremony.
Jynene Helland conducted a simple “Our Journey of Love” ceremony – a reaffirmation or commitment to love (depending on the marital status of attendees). Entertainment included an inspiring piano piece played by Ikumi Hayashi and two congratulatory songs by Fely Lumapac (“Because You
Loved Me” by Celine Dion) and Ani Blenkinsopp (“At Last” by Etta James). Also Brenda Muraoka organized some entertaining activities with prizes.
Couples who were celebrating wedding anniversaries were acknowledged with a display of “then and now” photos and an anniversary cake, which was lovingly prepared by Nicholas Gray.
