The Universal Peace Federation in cooperation with Faithlink Spain is planning a series of talks on the family. Our first conference took place on April 20, in our Peace Embassy, located in Ronda de Segovia 50, Madrid. On this first occasion the psychiatrist José M. López Molina spoke on the theme of sex, drugs, and alcohol. His talk was much more philosophical and spiritual than the sociological and statistical approach that tends to be the standard in this kind of talks.
Dr. López Molina emphasized in his talk the need for true meaning and happiness in modern society and gave a profound explanation about the ideal relationships between parents and children and between husband and wife, as well as practical advice on how to overcome the problems we face in these relationships. He is an experienced speaker and could reach out to a very diverse audience, which was intergenerational, ranging from people in their eighties to teenagers, and interreligious, including several nuns and people of different faiths. We were happy to have with us the national director of youth of the LDS Church (Mormons), a friend of Faithlink.
The conference was organized by Mercedes Gonzalez, an Ambassador for Peace, who gave a presentation about UPF objectives before introducing the main speaker. David Pique, a member of Faithlink Spain, was the coordinator of the event and guided a very lively question and answer session at the end. Javier Badosa, another Faithlink associate, sang a beautiful song to start the program.
We ended this inspiring evening by sharing some snacks and getting to know each other.
