The UPF-Finland held an interfaith panel discussion at the Parliament House on June 5, 2008. There were three panelists as main speakers, representing Catholic Church, Jewish community, and Islamic association. The topic of the event was: “How important is the family for us and the society?”
Each panelist presented some important views on how the family is central in their own religion and also on ways the religious community affects the families of the congregation.
This event could be held at the Parliament house because Parliament member Mr. Oinonen, who is also an Ambassador for Peace, co-sponsored the event with UPF and arranged this dignified location. Additionally, some Ambassadors for Peace were vital in recommending and arranging the panelists. They also invited guests to the event. Forty-eight people attended this special interfaith panel on family.
After discussion and a question-and answer session people continued enthusiastically to share and talk with each other while enjoying refreshments. Our guests requested UPF to continue holding this kind of events, because the well-being of families is very important for every religious community and the society as well.
