UPF-Peru Ambassador for Peace Spearheads Environmental Project

Peru—Ambassador for Peace Dr. María Isabel Romaní spearheads a project in Bahía Blanca Biohuerto in Puerto Pachacutec, District of Ventanilla, Constitutional Province of Callao, Peru. She has been cultivating an organic garden together with her community for five years, planting fruit trees and medicinal and ornamental plants.
The objective of this bio-garden activity is to be able to sow and grow organic fruits and plants using natural fertilizers and pesticides without harming nature and being in harmony with it. Dr. Romaní, a pharmaceutical chemist by profession, states that with the planting and cultivation of medicinal plants from the organic garden, it is possible to use their properties to make natural medicines, helping to preserve and restore the health of many people with diseases. One of the objectives is also to make it possible for local people in Puerto Pachacútec to have their own healthy food free of insecticides and artificial fertilizers, as well as to generate economic resources with the sale of their crops.
In the video, Dr. Romaní has a project within Biohuerto that she is sharing with True Mother. She seeks support to create an infrastructure so that she can run free workshops for the community teaching the preparation and use of natural medicines, with the plants of the Biohuerto. These medicines can help prevent, improve health and treat various diseases in people.
In this organic garden there are a variety of Peruvian plants and plants from other countries. The plants include fruit trees (apple, figs, papaya, quince, grapes, soursop, etc.), medicinal and healing plants (for diabetes, cancer, stomach diseases, for the skin, for fungi, for high blood pressure), depurative plants with antioxidants for the healing of many ills and diseases of the human being, and ornamental plants.
