Petrovac, Montenegro—Ambassadors for Peace from three Western Balkan nations attended a three-day seminar to study the UPF Principles for Peace.
A total of 55 participant from Albania, North Macedonia, and Montenegro gathered at the Palas Lux Hotel in Petrovac, a town on the Adriatic Sea, from December 16 to 18, 2022.
The seminar was held jointly by the Albanian chapters of UPF and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an affiliated organization, under the title "Love God, Love People, Love the Nation.”
H.E. Alfred Moisiu, the president of Albania from 2002 to 2007, offered the congratulatory remarks in which he encouraged the participants to become even more active in working for peace.
Among the participants were members of the UPF Board and leaders of 16 Peace Councils in Albania, representatives of expatriate Albanians’ Peace Councils in North Macedonia and Montenegro, the deputy rector of Durrës University, a former prefect and member of parliament from Durrës city, a professor from North Macedonia, the chairman of the Bektashi Order in North Macedonia, and a former member of parliament and government minister from Montenegro.
Dr. Eva Çipi, the chair of UPF-Albania, gave the welcoming remarks. Jacques Marion, the UPF co-chair for Europe and the Middle East, and Gani Rroshi, the UPF secretary general for the Balkans, presented the lectures.
An important part of the seminar were the discussions, festive evenings, visits to the tourist town of Budva, and the appointment of five of the participants as new Ambassadors for Peace.
