Copenhagen, Denmark—UPF-Denmark welcomed six new members to its Ambassadors for Peace community.
The awards ceremony was held in the UPF Peace Center on January 28, 2023. A total of 16 persons participated, including the new Ambassadors for Peace, their family members and board members of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an organization that is affiliated with UPF.
After his welcoming remarks, UPF-Denmark Secretary General Karsten Nielsen introduced the new Ambassadors for Peace:
- Wieslaw Podlach, a priest at Sankt Annæ Catholic Church in Copenhagen;
- Phra Soodthibongse Soodthiwungso, a Buddhist monk who founded the Wat Thai Denmark Brahmavihara monastery in 1990;
- Pernille Louise Sejlund, a composer, singer, and recipient of the Sonning Music Scholarship;
- Mohammad Zaif Akhtar, a medical laboratory technologist and a founding member of Minhaj Youth in Denmark;
- Nammuni Naveendra P. de Zoysa, a Buddhist and a PhD from Nagoya University;
- Metta Ai Kim Carter, an award-winning singer, the founder of Jazzmosphere, an illustrator, photographer, designer, and coach.
UPF-Denmark Chair Nobuhiro Igarashi introduced UPF’s vision for building a world of peace. He included the Ambassador for Peace program, the UPF Principles of Peace, and UPF activities in Denmark.
Karsten Nielsen presented the new Ambassadors for Peace with their certificates, and photos were taken before the closing remarks.
The event finished with lunch and togetherness. It was a very warm time with the new Ambassadors for Peace and their relatives. They all expressed gratitude for being invited and a strong desire to support UPF’s activities.
