Santa-Chimbote, Peru—On September 8, 2023, the Mayor of the province of Santa-Chimbote, Eng. Luis Gamarra Alor, was named Ambassador for Peace and received the “Leadership and Good Government” Prize for his management. A large assembly attended the ceremony in Chimbote, Peru, within the framework of the celebration for the United Nations International Day of Peace 2023, in the auditorium of the provincial commune of Santa.
Dr. Trevor Jones, president of UPF-Peru, welcomed the mayor who was accompanied by his directors, Councilors and the invited public who attended this important forum.
Eight professionals from all fields of society were also named as new Ambassadors for Peace.
Mayor Luis Gamarra Alor expressed his thanks for the distinction received from UPF-Peru and committed to continue working to build a world of Peace, with justice, fraternity and values, saying that this is the best legacy that can be left to the new generations.
The table of honor included Mr. Jaime Fernández Túpac, secretary general of UPF-Peru, the coordinator of the UPF Ancash Region; Ambassador Contadora Regina Armas Sánchez; Ambassador Dr. América Odar Rosario, rector of the National University of Santa; Mr. Segundo Valentín Valladares Melgar, secretary general of IAED, Ambassador Raquel Pastor Vera; and Rev. Douglas Caderón Morillas, member of IAPD.
