Sir Lloyd Sandiford Appointed Ambassador to the People's Republic of China

Bridgetown, Barbados - Sir Lloyd Sandiford will take up a post as Barbados' first resident ambassador to the People's Republic of China early in 2010.
Prime Minister of Barbados from 1987 to 1994, Sir Lloyd has served in his country's senate, assembly, and various cabinet positions. He studied at Britain's University of Manchester, receiving a Master's degree in economics and social studies. He is a member of the Universal Peace Federation's Global Peace Council and a long-time Ambassador for Peace.
On October 29, 2009, the University of the West Indies honored Sir Lloyd with an honorary LL.D. degree for his public service to the university, to Barbados, and the Caribbean. The university serves 17 English-speaking countries and territories in the Caribbean and has campuses in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados.
