The UPF Christian Alliance President Pastor Luis Acero gathered Interreligious Ambassadors and other guests for a prayer meeting on the day following Peru’s Independence Day. Many Evangelicals attended as well as our friends from the Islamic Association and the Orthodox Church. The Vice President of Peru, Mrs. Marisol Espinoza, and Mrs. Susan Villaran, Mayor of Lima, attended together with other Congressmen and women.
Mr. Cesar Aguayo visited again the mountain city of Ayacucho and, after appointing more Ambassadors for Peace, arranged for the distribution of winter bedding and clothing for the poor people who experience the severe cold winters in the Andes. This activity was possible thanks to donations arranged by the Lions Club, of which Mr. Aguayo is a member.
The following weekend Ambassador for Peace Mrs Pilar Silveira concluded a seminar of her NGO “Peru Women” by holding a meeting for the participants in the National Society of Industry headquarters in Lima. Arq. Luis Huarcaya and Lic. Isabel Huarcaya (both Presidents of Commissions in UPF-Peru) were speakers at this meeting and took the opportunity to share the UPF vision for leadership and peace.
In the first days of August Pastor Luis Acero and Mr. Carlos Turrin inaugurated a religious radio program at the headquarters of the Peruvian Reporters Federation.
UPF-Peru is planning further activities in August and September including the celebration of the UN International Day of Peace in the Peruvian Congress.
