Seattle, United States—Nearly thirty Ambassadors for Peace and guests gathered in Seattle on February 26, 2015 for a meeting and to hear plans for UPF-USA in 2015.
After enjoying dinner together, the participants turned their attention to the speaker of the night, Mr. Larry Krishnek, secretary general of UPF in the Northwest USA. The topic of Mr. Krishnek’s presentation was “Forgive, Love, Unite: the Way to Lasting Stability.” Mr. Krishnek began by speaking about UPF’s upcoming international leadership conference, “Beyond the Challenges of Our Time: Transforming the Society, Nation and World.” Dignitaries from around the world will hear presentations on the “Principles of Peace” and discuss applying those Principles to challenges faced by families, religions and governments.
Mr. Krishnek said that in times of stress, people often respond by separating into groups based on national, religious, or ethnic identities.
He read an excerpt of a speech by UPF founder, Rev. Sun Myung Moon, entitled "Forgive, Love, Unite,” which was printed in major newspapers in the United States on November 30, 1973, at the height of the controversy over the Watergate scandal in the Nixon administration, a time of great bitterness and enmity between Americans.
Mr. Krishnek stated that Rev. Moon’s efforts were to remind Americans that the destiny of this country is intimately related to the providence of God, and that America was and many believe still is in the position to champion Godly values and to model them for the world.
