UPF-Peru Peace Council Organizes Forum on "Senior Citizens"

Lima, Peru—UPF-Peru’s Peace Council, which was established last year by Peruvian Ambassadors for Peace, organized a forum on the theme, “Senior Citizens,” on September 12, 2015.
Members of the council’s committee for Marriage and Family gave presentations about the current situation of senior citizens in Peru. Dr. Jaime Valdivia, president of the committee, opened the meeting. Dr. Durga Ramirez, a lawyer, spoke about laws that affect and the rights of older people in Peru. Mr. Manuel Arana, a sociologist, talked about the current situation of senior citizens in the country and gave examples of the problems they face.
The presentations provoked a lot of discussion and, during the refreshment break, many guests expressed that they appreciated the meeting and looked forward to attending future UPF events.
