Buenos Aires, Argentina—On December 1, 2016, Ambassador for Peace and journalist Graciela Almada launched Música para la Paz (Music for Peace), a cultural and interfaith initiative that seeks to foster a culture of peace through music, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Buenos Aires.
The program opened with a musical performance by the Municipal Estable Chorus of Hurlingham in Buenos Aires province. Later, the youth choir of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP)-Argentina performed. The last song, “Determinación” (Determination), which was written by UPF-Argentina Director Carlos Varga, was sung by both choirs, and was directed by Marco Castellón.
Music for Peace will hold programs, including liturgical, classical and pop music gatherings, at churches and temples throughout 2017.
