Rome, Italy—During UPF-Middle East’s Ambassadors for Peace seminar in Rome, a side event was held to foster friendship and cooperation among Italian and Middle Eastern parliamentarians.
The event, which took place on July 1, 2017, began with guests introducing themselves and their peace activities.
Mrs. Elisabetta Nistri, the president of the Italy chapter of the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), an affiliated organization, reported on WFWP’s recent activities and then introduced the Italian guests. She expressed her appreciation for the work they are doing for peace and recognized in particular Hon. Eleonora Bechis; Hon. Souad Sbai, Journalist, Professor, and former Italian Parliamentarian; and Dr. Massimo Marzi, author of “Benegiornale”, a news production centered on reporting good news to contrast the spread of pessimism, hopelessness and mistrust.
Mr. Giuseppe Calì, president of UPF-Italy, spoke about the chapter’s activities and welcomed all the guests from the Middle East.
At the end of the event, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner and could get to know one another more deeply and personally.
It was a magnificent opportunity for the Italian members of parliament to meet their colleagues from Jordan, Malta and Morocco.
