Berlin UPF Chapter Holds 2017 Year-End Meeting

Berlin, Germany—The Berlin chapter of UPF held a year-end meeting to exchange thoughts and ideas and discuss the upcoming year.
To start the December 16 meeting, Karl-Christian Hausmann, the secretary general of UPF-Germany, summarized the results of the conference held in Höchst Cloister.
Then we discussed the tasks ahead in 2018. We took a particularly long time to consider our contribution to a planned conference about Syria, and it was obvious how difficult it can be to reach unity about this topic. Our guests from Syria helped us to better understand the situation, and a concept was developed which will lead eventually to a decision.
It was a special pleasure to recognize Dr. Ibrahim Alsayed as an Ambassador for Peace for his valuable work for and with refugees. He told us that he wishes to continue supporting our UPF work, and this brought us to consider our next tasks.
We in Berlin look forward to cooperation with our friends from Hamburg and Hannover, because in this way we can reach more people. We are planning two events. One will be about solving problems that arise in international marriages, in which we especially want to involve young people. The other event will give people who have been in Germany for varying lengths of time—from weeks to years—the opportunity to talk about their experiences. This can be fascinating, since each has his or her own story. The purpose is not only to entertain but also to help us in our interactions with each other.
The idea of a Peace Road event in Hamburg was proposed; we will discuss this in more detail at the family festival in Berlin on January 20, 2018. An interesting new year lies ahead of us!
