Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo—On March 23, 2018, Rev. Bakary Camara, regional president for UPF-East Africa, led the program establishing the International Association of Traditional Chiefs for Peace and Prosperity in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rev. Camara was greeted by a receiving line of dignitaries at the event’s venue in the Mitendi section of Kinshasa as well as by a troupe performing traditional Congo dances.
As the event’s major speaker, Rev. Camara explained the purpose of the International Association of Traditional Chiefs for Peace and Prosperity (IATCPP) and the vision of the founders of UPF, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. At the conclusion of his speech, he presented a copy of Rev. Moon’s autobiography, As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen, to the president of the DR-Congo branch of the IATCPP, His Majesty Mfumu Difima Ntinu.
A major portion of the program inaugurating the IATCPP was the testimony of His Majesty Ntinu, about his experiences at the World Africa Summit in Senegal, West Africa. On January 19, 2018, he was with approximately 1,200 conference participants who were present for the creation of the IATCPP.
Among the many traditional chiefs present was a group of princesses, who offered a song together. Ambassadors for Peace were well represented, and one of them, also a princess, offered a prayer. The event concluded with the traditional group photo.
