Peshkopi, Albania—With the support of local government, UPF founded a local Peace Council in Albania’s Dibër region.
The main hall of the town of Peshkopi was the site of the inauguration, which was held on March 26, 2018. Thirty-five prominent figures of Dibër region participated in the event.
After an explanation of the vision and work of UPF given by Gani Rroshi, the secretary general of UPF-Albania, nine persons were awarded the certificate of Ambassador for Peace.
At the end of the program, a vote was taken to elect the chair of the Peace Council and two vice chairpersons.
The event was moderated by Mrs. Manjola Vasmatics, the vice president of the Albanian chapter of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), an organization affiliated with UPF.
An important local figure, Mr. Hajri Laçi, the chair of the Dibër regional council, greeted the audience with words of support for the mission and vision of UPF. Mrs. Donika Hysenaj, the general secretary of the regional prefecture, who also was elected as chair of UPF in Dibër region, presented a few words to the audience.
Then Mr. Ramazan Tema, one of the first Ambassadors for Peace in the town and the father of two daughters who are members of FFWPU, described his experience as a Peace Ambassador.
Mr. Gaqo Apostoli, the chair of UPF-Albania, explained what it means to become an Ambassador for Peace, and how important and serious this title is.
During the refreshments at the end of the event, all the participants expressed their gratitude for UPF being established in their town. They also pledged to work hard to spread the vision of UPF.
